how do I enable the browser 'back' buttons (IE, Firefox, Chorme, etc.)

Are there any limitations? Can the visitor with an old computer have problems
with this? Or are the requirements only having a browser that supports
javascript? What does google do with an url like this? Can google add it to its
search results?

I know a lot of questions... I hope you can help.
