i am trying to open/import wmv files from a client with Adobe Media Encoder CS4.

it will not open those files.

have never used Media Encoder before - does it now support wmv files?

I have Adobe Web Premium CS3 and I just upgraded to Web Premium CS4.

I have the same problem with Adobe Media Encoder CS4. But if I use my older
Flash Video Encoder CS3 I don't get the error.

With the CS4 I get an file import error. The file xyz.wmv could not be
imported.

I have this same problem. I am trying to import a WMV file in Adobe Media Encoder CS4 and it fails.

I finaly worked around the problem with reencoding using Windows Media Encoder
(Free)

Then used Adobe Media Encoder CS4 to Encode that new file.

You all have to convert the files to flv.
Google will help you get free converters and players (they are both different and both needed)
