Is it possible to turn off the vertex points that appear after I use the pencil
tool. It is really annoying and distracting before I even start I know those
points will destroy my next thought...

It's as if Adobe does not know how to create a program that will allow you to
naturally animate. The page thing is nice but Can't get around these vectors!

I have been using Freehand since 1990. Over the years my "Illustrator" friends
have laughed at me and think they're geniuses. Personally, after using
Illustrator when I've had to, I am not a fan. I can do the same thing in
Freehand in half the time. I would definately pay for an upgrade in order to
continue using Freehand. I haven't moved up to Leopard, but when I do, I'd
like to take my "friends" with me and Freehand is a good friend...

Definitely. Freehand is soooo much easier and much more intuitive than
Illustrator. I've tried several times to switch to Illustrator and have
purchased CS2 and CS3 thinking that I will eventually have to make the change
but every time I try I get so frustrated. It's even difficult to select an
object.

Hi David,
Same here, I have done the same, try switching, it was difficult. But there is
one thing I like to share.
If you want to truely switch, you have to forget FH workflow entirely. Get a
good tutorial book, I got "Classroom in a Book" which I consider a very book.
Learning something new is painful. But try opening up my mind and learn.
Honestly, I can say, I am able to function quite well with Illustrator now.
There are things FH is not very good, which is the transparency area. Anyway,
what am trying to say is you need to be extra patient when learning
illustrator, specially people who have use FreeHand before. Finally, if Adobe
is to surprise everyone and listen to the plight from so many around the globe,
by upgrading FreeHand MX to the next level as a pure Vector Art Programe.
Thanks
Jack Png

I think it's testament to FH's "power" that after as long as it has been an
unsupported program, there are still as many users as there are. I'd be
happy if Adobe took FH, update it, added a few AI features, and called it AI
CS4. I've try to use AI to do my drawings, but it takes me 4 times longer.
I've said it before, I'll say it again... The best thing about AI CS3 is
that it rather cleanly imports FH files.

I would absolutely PAY WITH NO PROBLEM!!!!!! I am in the screen printing
business and AI will not allow me to print out the size dot for halftone that I
want. Everything take longer to do and the file sizes are insanely
unnecessarily huge. There are a few things I like about the AI app---but it is
so much more difficult to do ANYTHING that I just simply use FREEHAND. I will
likely retain an old MAC to keep the Freehand app at my beck and call. I wish
to say to ADOBE--- I love your apps--- JUST GIVE US BACK OUR FREEHAND and I
will still buy it all anyway. I WANT MY FREEHAND!!!! Thanks JOHN Freehand
user since VERSION 1!!!!!

Hi all,
Would someone from Adobe please comment on this thread about upgrading Freehand?
Is it possible for you to give us Illustrator which works like Freehand through a preference choice?

ABSOLUTELY YES! I've been using Illustrator for a while now, and long enough to really miss FreeHand. There's no contest in ease of use.
Please upgrade FreeHand!
