Although Adobe continues to sell Macromedia? FreeHand? MX software, we have no
plans to develop or deliver any new feature-based releases. Recognizing that FreeHand has a loyal customer base, we encourage users to migrate to new Adobe? Illustrator? CS4 software, which supports both PowerPC? and Intel? based Macs as well as Microsoft? Windows? XP and Windows Vista? systems. |

Illustrator CS3 only goes back as far as FH7. I doubt that they will
expand on that. Still it's better than FH can do itself. Rich Navale wrote: > Great! Does Illustrator open my Freehand 3-5-7-MX-files too? I just have about > 50.000 of them that I need to access every now and then. This would be good as > I would like to buy a new Mac with Leopard soon.... > |

My MX can open FH7, unless there are pictfiles embedded in the document. Then
it crashes... FH7 opens FH5 and FH3 which opens FH1. I have actually opened FH1 with MX too, only it looked like a jigzaw... My MX can crash a little now and then, without a specific reason or pattern. But normally it is fairly stable. Best in all aspects is still Freehand 7, except that it creates problem when I want to have stuff printed by others. And it needs to run on OS9... It is terrible with the mismatch between machines and software these days. |
