Hi Judy,
Below is copy of your post about converting fonts to True Type. I tried converting one of my Postscript fonts with FontXChange to TrueType with negative results. I put the converted folder in my user/Library/fonts folder and still could not get the font to print correctly. Should I have restarted after replacing the folder? Please give me your advice. Regards, davecc Because of this, we are into workaround territory when aspects of FH fail to work on new operating systems. When printing Postscript fonts from FH on Leopard I have resorted to workarounds. Here are some that work for me. 1. Duplicate file, convert text to paths, print. The original file remains editable. 2. Print to a Postscript file formatted for the printer. Drag the Postscript file to the printer's print queue. 3. Print to Postscript file. Distill. Print the resulting PDF from Acrobat Pro. 4. Switch to TrueType versions of fonts. Judy Arndt |

Hi Dave,
I think you're putting more faith in my advice than I deserve. ![]() Yes, I think you should restart the computer before testing the TrueType fonts, but not before cleaning all font caches with Yasu, Font Nuke or a similar utility. Judy Arndt |

Hi Judy,
Thanks for the early response and good to hear from you. I will try your suggestions and report back to you later today. I just bought the new MacPro 2.8 Quad-Core Intel Xeon which will only work with Leopard, so I have to get Freehand working well with it. Failing that, I can always do an outline layer of the file to print. It's so sad to see Freehand dying a slow death. Regards, davecc |

Hi Judy,
Freehand has been a horrible experience so far with Leopard with many issues. The three main issues that I have experienced so far are Fonts, Open and Save dialog box not remembering the last setting and Keyboard shortcuts stop working after awhile requiring a re-launch of Freehand. I made a clone from my last MacPro with Tiger which I am going to clone abck into my new MacPro. Tiger worked from the Hard Drive that I installed from the last machine and I will do my tests with it tomorrow. What are your experiences? Regards, davecc |

Hi Dave,
I've been testing FHMX under Leopard on my iBook, which is not my main work machine. I didn't notice the Open and Save dialog settings. Sorry, I don't have time to test today. On the lost keyboard shortcuts issue, are you aware that running some versions of Entourage can conflict with shortcuts? Some applications that run schedules in the background can conflict with shortcuts. When I tried to install Leopard on my main machine, an 800Mhz G4, I found that it is just below the minimum specs for Leopard. Until I need a new machine, I'll be using Tiger for my day to day work. Although the Postscript font issue won't be a deal breaker for me personally because I normally print to Postscript file and Distill, I've been trying to find more info. I don't understand why when one prints to a Postscript file, the Postscript fonts are fine, but the printer driver will not send the Postscript fonts to the printer. These are somewhat related technotes: PostScript fonts in an EPS substitute in display and print http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_12272 I found this technote about FH 10 on OSX, which mentions a problem with font styles not printing. Go to the section, " TYPE 1 FONTS DISPLAY AND PRINTING ISSUES (MAC OS X)" http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_16273 When testing, I would make sure the target Postscript printer is the system default printer, and that the settings in FH's File>Page Setup, and in any Print dialog saved settings are consistent.
