Hi,
Just got a new pc. I installed my entire font library, and now every file is saying I don't have Futura, when in fact I've got the entire Futura family. -- I installed every single font from my former computer, so how is this happening? Now, all files are out of whack as it's substituting Arial! Is there a regular Futura font I will now need to purchase? When I researched, there seems to only be Futura Book, Futura Bold, etc, etc....but again, this doesn't make any sense because it's the same fonts from my old computer! Please advise! I don't want to have to manually select every single text box in thousands of files to update. ~ thank you! |

If you have hundreds and hundreds of them, you may be hitting that limit. c) I don't think Freehand can see OpenType fonts. d) Are these your files? If not, perhaps the files are using a different version of Futura than you have. -Darrel |

Hi,
I agree, but unfortunately it's the way the files were originally set up & designed...in FH. I tried to open a few of my Illustrator files, in Illustrator, and now the same issue is happening when pertaining to the Futura font family. It's definitely something with my new PC...can you recommend any kind of system trouble shooting I can try? Thanks! |

If that's the case, it sounds like a) the Futura that was used in the documents is not the same version of Futura you have installed on your machine. or b) something is wrong with your system and not seeing the typeface. The fact that Illustrator has the same problem seems to rule out Freehand as the culprit. Can you access the font otherwise from your font pull-down menus? In both illustrator and freehand? -Darrel |

Absolutely...but when I go to open previous files that contain it, it's not
recognizing. Freehand, in particular, is acting as if there's a regular Futura font, aside from Futura Book, Bold, etc, etc...But this is not the case as I can see what fonts I've always had in my fonts folder. They're TrueType and when I double-click each in the fonts folder, all previews well. It's installed properly. Any other ideas? Or a recommendation my IT dept can try to troubleshoot the new PC? Thank you!! |
