Most of the time Freehand quits after I execute a Print command.
I am using Freehand version 11, build 416 on a PowerBookk G4, OS 10.4.10

Any thoughts?

What is your printer?

There have been a number of reports here of FH quitting when printing to
Canon printers. There seems to be a conflict between FH and some PPD files.
You could check the printer manufacturer's web site for updates to the PPD.

Thanks for the tip. I'm not sure what a PPD printer is. My printer is the Apple LaserWriter 8500.

Jim, a PPD or Postscript Printer Description file is necessary to set up a
Postscript printer. The correct PPD should already be installed on your Mac
system.

There's a small chance the PPD file has become corrupted or your printer
setup is incorrect. Did you set it up with Printer Setup Utility?

How are you connected to the printer? Directly or via a network?

I had a similar problem after updating my system software. Only Freehand was
affected.

The problem was resolved after updating to the latest verion of Freehand. If
you are on 11.0 you'll need to upgrade to 11.0.1 and then 11.0.2. Unfortunately
11.0.1 is not available for download, you have to contact customer support and
then after a few days they'll email it to you. Why I don't know.

If the PPD thing doesn't work, this may help.

I am beginning to suspect that the problem is FH and not in the printer
driver. When I executed a print command, FH does send the file to the printer
and it does print. However FH quits immediately after the file is send.

It may be a screen refresh problem, i.e. it is looking for the links to the
images.

But who know. I'll try the update to 11.0.2 and see if that fixes the
problem--as suggested by Cragg.

I have the same problem since my last update. FH is crashing when printing. it is very annoying.
