Default My Freehand file is not valid???!!!

I worked on a Freehand file this morning. Came back to it this afternoon and it
will not open. Tells me that "the file is not a valid Freehand document"!

Tried restarting FH. Rebooted. Repaired permissions. I doubled clicked the
document, and tried opening from the Freehand Menu Bar. Neither way worked.
Nothing helps. I hate to have to rebuild the document from scratch. Never had
this before.

Can I salvage my document somehow?

FH v11. OS10.3.9.

In the Info panel you will get a clue if it is saved as a FH document and if
the size seems to be right. You can also duplicate it (for safety) and rename
it as .FH8 or .EPS before trying to open it...?

Thanks Navale,
Yes, it's saved as a FH document.
I renamed it but that did not work.

I created two almost identical documents. They both opened several times. Now
the one opens and one does not. Strange?!!
