Hi den, why don't you just download a trial version of the latest illustrator CS3 from Adobe. Then you Judy instruction by saving down to ver 8.......

In most cases linking is much better than embedding.

Embedding big files create huge FreeHand files that may corrupt. Also files with a lot of embedded images may be sluggish compared to files with links.

If your linked files are scattered in many folder just use Collect for Output function to, well, collect all the files into one folder.
