Default Adobe Flex (AIR) Printing Quality

Just wondering if there are any tips out there for getting a decent print
quality out of Flex. Everything I print seems to have a dither quality to it
(including simple straight lines for borders around boxes, text, and by far the
worst being images).

We've tried both the FlexPrintJob and normal PrintJob routines and tried
printAsBitmap = false; to no avail. I find it hard to believe that the print
quality is really this bad out of Flex and that I'm just completely missing
something.

Unfortunately in its current state its borderline unacceptable to use as an
invoicing tool because the quality is so poor.

I've seen other references to it:

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

If you have a LCDS server, you can generate PDFs on the fly from the data displayed in Flex. This is the best print quality you can get.

:disgust;

Yes, print quality if very bad, even with printAsBitmap = false. I have not found a solution yet.

I also propose AlivePDF:

http://alivepdf.bytearray.org/

While AlivePDF is not as simple or complete as some other PDF libraries
available, I'm sure its author will continue to improve it.

Also, to preview PDFs in your AIR app, I posted a small and simple snippet in
Flex Cookbook:

http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/communi...etails&postId=
10183&productId=2&loc=en_US

I use this snippet to prepare PDF reports inside an AIR app and then show the
preview. Customers can print reports from right in the preview using the
standard PDF print dialog.
