I have previous Flash projects with *.fla sources.
Can I simply load them into Flex Builder and recompile them?

Or do I need to cross-compile/convert them (how ?) before?

Well you can open fla files directly in Flex, what you can do is create SWC
files in order to use then in Flex or compile thoses Flash Apps and load them
