Hi
I'm managing http://www.MyTaskHelper.com and considering to using Flex for it. It's important step, and that's why I want to discuss all pros/cos/hear people voice for Flex. Pointing to other links. It will be very great to hear any info about Flex. Do you suggest me to switch to Flex? btw, http://www.mytaskhelper.com - it?s a free online database, using which you can create and share online databases. :smile; Thank you, Sincerely, Igor, http://www.MyTaskHelper.com |

It obviously depends upon which parts of your site you want to use Flex for and
which tasks you hope to accomplish. You can certainly build some nice interfaces for accomplishing on-line database management (like lots of views of the data in graphical form, drag and drop) but its hard to tell if the bit of framework overhead that comes with Flex is relevant to what you want to do. You also have the option of doing some things with a client application that 'talks' to your site. Although the target audience is a little different, here's a nice AIR based SQLite client using AIR. http://www.dehats.com/drupal/?q=node/58 So what kind of tasks were you thinking of for which you'd use Flex? |

Hi, John
Thank you for your reply. I want to use Flex for data representation, for building forms, databases, so - almost everywhere except simple html pages, because I'm not sure if it will be good for SEO. Thank you for your link. I've looked at screenshot and basically I want the same, just buttons, forms, which will looks the same in any browser. Also, if I can use use Flex for client-based - i.e. desktop version of MyTaskHelper.com, - it will be great. And if I'll have the same interface in both browser and desktop versions - it would be fantastic. Once again, thank you for your reply, and I'm looking forward to hear your input again. Thank you, Sincerely, Igor Petrushenko http://www.MyTaskHelper.com |

Hi, yoav
Thank you for pointing. It looks good as well. I'm just thinking about how google will parse data collected on this forms, when I'll use Flex? I don't know about Flex many, but I think it's impossible? So I can use Flex only for my controls, but not for data representation, if I want collected data to be available for web crawlers... Anyway, thank you, using Flex based controls looks better then native html controls. Thank you, Sincerely, Igor Petrushenko http://www.MyTaskHelper.com |

Sure you can data visualization is one of the coolest features in flex, I'm not
getting what you meant by "google will parse this data", do you mean you want google to index that info? Or getting data from google analytics? |

HI, Michael
Yes, I mean: my pages should be indexed by google. Content of "public" databases should be indexed by Google. And I'm not sure if it will be possible, if I'll use Flex for it. I've already decided - thanks to you all - that Flex is good enough for building database - just to move from HTML controls to Flex. But, I don't want the same interface for all internal pages. If page where Ill create table/columns will be powered by Flex, but other - when user will see his table rows will be HTMl table and not Flex table - it will confuse - different interface... Thank you, I'll definitely review Flex examples. Thank you, Sincerely, Igor Petrushenko http://www.MyTaskHelper.com |

Hi again Igor, you know Google and Adobe team in order to create an special
version of flash player called "lchabod" in order to index flash player files, you have to check info about this because not everything in a swf file will be index . And Adobe is planning to extend this special virtual user seach to Yahoo as well, so our future flex apps will definitively will appear in Google Search and Yahoo. |
