Default Exercise9 - alternative examples to CF

In exercise 9 of Flex in a Week it steps through the setup of Coldfusion 8
(exercise9_cf). I'd rather not go through this example as I am not likely to
implement any projects using Coldfusion. Does anyone know if there are any
equivalent examples on how to send data to the server using Remote Object using
other technology? (I also have a particular interest on learning the best way
to send data to and from an Oracle 10g database)

Any help would be great.

Thanks,
Leigh.
