Default Beginners Tutorial

This is my first post and so, greetings to all from the United Kingdom. I've
tried to search for an answer to this question but had no joy so I'm hoping you
can people could point me in the right direction.

Basically, I have no experience in using Adobe Flash CS3 Professional but am
quite proficient in using Photoshop CS3. I am hoping to develop my first
interative flash application. The application will be used in work.

The basis of the application is that it will contain a list of say 7
categories. When the user clicks on the category, it will open up a few
sub-categories from this one. From this, the user can then select on a
subcategory and this will reveal an image. As well as this image, some details
about the image will also appear such as title etc etc..... This application
will be updated regularly with different information and details and so, it'd
have to be easily editable.

Am I taking too much on as a complete novice to Flash CS3? If not, can people
point me in the right direction to any templates / tutorials that may be of
assistance.

Many thanks :confused;

Do some Googling for Flash image viewer. You probably want to add XML to
your search since you need to be able to update it easily. For a complete
novice this will be a bit of a challenge, but definitely doable.

Adding to that, I suggest to start with a ready made slide show since you are new in Flash, search fro Flash slideshow or Flash component sites.
