That is a really asinine response. How about this... don't use Fireworks.
Fireworks was a Macromedia product and doesn't play well with Photoshop. Hopefully CS4 will be better. And here's THE most important thing... turn off all color management. It screws colors up. Baloney. There is no conflict between these two very different products. Use the right tool for the job - web graphics = FW, print graphics = PS. -- Murray --- ICQ 71997575 Adobe Community Expert (If you *MUST* email me, don't LAUGH when you do so!) ================== http://www.projectseven.com/go - DW FAQs, Tutorials & Resources http://www.dwfaq.com - DW FAQs, Tutorials & Resources ================== "chirp88" <webforumsuser@macromedia.com> wrote in message news:gcmdn5$d8k$1@forums.macromedia.com... > That is a really asinine response. You obviously never tried to use them together very much. Just yesterday I
tried opening a layered CS3 PSD with groups and vector masks and cloipping groups in Fireworks CS3 and it choked. All clipping groups were released, masks were not recognized and the file opened as a mess. This never happened with ImageReady. I hope that Fireworks CS4 will open PSDs MUCH better. If Fireworks can't open Photoshop files correctly, then there's no point in trying to use it for web graphics. I'm absolutely positive that a much higher percentage of people use Photoshop for web graphic development than Fireworks. It's like comparing Illustrator to Freehand users. Can it be even better? Sure, but only so much can be done in each release. FW CS4 supports PS vector objects, PS vector masks and Layer Comps, as well as PS type (even on a path). It does not support clipping paths as editable objects, but you can opt to flatten the clipping path so the look remains the same. FW does not support Adjustment layers or Smart Objects. Adjustment layers can be brought in flattened, but you lose the editability. Smart Objects are brought in, but as flattened bitmaps; any link to the parent program is lost. Fireworks does not understand color profiles, which is usually where the color issue stems from. Disable the color management in Photoshop to allow the colors to be the same as they are in Fireworks.
