Default Windows Print Screen can it be set to png?

I think the default format is gif. Is there way to set it to png as the
print screen default format?

Try the trial of 'SnagIt', I find it invaluable :-)

It becomes a PNG file when you copy it from the windows clipboard and
paste it onto the canvas in Fireworks.

That may be, but the person taking the images is pasting into a MS Word
document and not DW.

On Windows, you can paste a screen capture into Windows Paint, save as .png,
then insert the image into MS Word. (At least, the Vista version of Paint
supports .png and I think the XP version does as well.)
