If you right-click on your Fireworks launch icon (start menu, desktop, quick
launch etc.), select 'Properties', select 'Compatibility' and then under the section 'Privilege Level', put a tick in the box 'Run this program as administrator'. This will sort the problem. You will still have a Windows UAC message come up (unless you have turned off UAC) but Fireworks will not load correctly. |

I had the same problem but I also did something else, and this solved the problem all together. After you "select 'Properties', select 'Compatibility' and then under the section 'Privilege Level', put a tick in the box 'Run this program as administrator'." Open fireworks you still will get the UAC message, click accept to this message, and let fireworks load. After it has loaded one time as administrator close down Fireworks and restore the "Privilege Level" back to normal, (what it was before you changed the "'Properties', select 'Compatibility' and then under the section 'Privilege Level', put a tick in the box 'Run this program as administrator'). Now try Fireworks once again in it should not bring the original dialog box again. Basically what you need to do is run Fireworks one time as Administrator level and then back as normal as any administrative user to solve this problem. I have done this on 3 computers and it worked fine always. PS I am using Vista home premium. James |
