Default using polygon tool to cut somebody out ?

Hi all I am trying to cut a person out of a photo to use on a website.
I select the polygon tool go round the persons outline, but at the last bit
when im going to join the start and finish point up it suddenlymakes a smaller
version with smooth edges of the shape i have made originally ? I tested it
again and if i draw a rougth circle it , at the end it changes to a perfect
circle ? Im used to Photoshop and can not work out why ? thanks

Interesting. I'm using CS3 and can't replicate your problem. Smooth or hard edges can be controlled using the "edge" setting in the tool properties, but I have no idea how yours in getting "smaller".

Sounds like you might be using a feather edge. Check the edge setting to make
sure its smooth or hard (as Joey suggested).

Also, for complicated selections, you might want to try using the pen or
redraw path tools. Its easier to edit your "selection" or modify it after its
drawn for better accuracy (you can also toggle between marquees and paths using
Select > Convert Marquee and Modify... > Convert Path...).
