Default What resolution is best for the canvas?

I need to create a website and was going to design it around the 1024x768
resolution. The question I have is in Fireworks, when creating a new document
the default settings are 72 pixels/inch. Would it be better to increase the
size of this? What would the benefits or problems that I would encounter if I
were to make this 100 pixels/inch or higher?

Reply below posted in response to the same question in the DW forum:

Image resolution (or dpi) only matters when printing.

It has no effect on viewing images on screen.

What matters on the web is image dimensions (height x width measured in
pixels) and compression because for a given image you're balancing filesize
vs perceived quality.

Ignore it. Refer above.
