You can just make a link to the Office file as you would make a link to another
page. The only difference is when the user clicks the link they will get the option to save the file or open it. There is no way to force a browser to do open another application though unless you use the ActiveX controls which IE makes those nice pop-ups for, and it won't work on the Mac side. |

Correct, but usually it helps a lot to deliver the files with the correct content type, so that the browser knows how to handle them if it's configured appropriately. Clicking an .xls link might then automatically launch OpenOffice Calc or Excel for example. This might require some little modifications of the server config (.htaccess), though. Micha |
