Default Protect movie function doesn't work

Error message continues with "Having trouble saving this movie." I have no
success with casts (.cst) or movies (.dir). Overwriting vs. saving original
files option makes no difference. I'm using Director MX 2004 on a Mac G4
aluminum 1.33 GHz Powerbook. My hard drive has plenty of free space, and I have
no reason to believe there's anything wrong with it mechanically.

Thanks.

Bruce

Often when this happens you can fix it by File, Save And Compact. Or
save the file, close Director, then reopen it and then publish it
again.
