OK. I 'm not a huge Director user, only for specific art projects. I have Director 204MX, which I recently (7 weeks ago), re-installed on a new computer (OSX 1.5 Laptop). It worked fine. In the last 2 days, it keeps quitting again and again - and I'm running into a deadline. Calling Adobe, I was told that officially they don't support this anymore... Any ideas - or should I bite the bullet and upgrade? BTW - I have an educational version, legally bought and installed. Tones of space. I run after effect and final cut no problem. Many thanks. |

Knowing more about the issue may help identify the cause and find a solution. D MX 04 should work. As to upgrading to D11, it does have its own quirks. I would never recommend switching versions of software in the middle of a project, regardless of what the software is. It just new complexities and possible issues. regards Dean Director Lecturer / Consultant / Director Enthusiast http://www.deansdirectortutorials.com/ http://www.multimediacreative.com.au email: d.utian@unsw.edu.au |

Hi Dean -
There is mostly one file I'm working with - it's interactive(input from keyboard), and mostly plays QT clips. I worked on it to update it for a new project I'm planning - all seemed to work fine. No scripts errors, and I didn't change cast, file names etc. I also opened another older file I was working on to look at some scripts, saved and closed (that one was never changed at all). Next thing I know, I cannot open the program - not from the file I was working on, and not directly (double clicking the program itself). It quits JUST before the first menu - where it asks you if you want to open a new or an existing file. I get the apple "quit unexpectedly". Many thanks - Nomi |

I started usng a new computer with Director and it also crashed and closed unexpectedly. I found that it was a Quicktime issue. For some reason, Director didn't like QT with certain compression. I'd suggest you reinstall Director and reinstall Quicktime. Not sure if it's the same issue as I experinced but can't hurt to try. I assume you've installed the 10.1 update as well as the 10.1.1 update right? regards Dean Director Lecturer / Consultant / Director Enthusiast http://www.deansdirectortutorials.com/ http://www.multimediacreative.com.au email: d.utian@unsw.edu.au |

Hi Nomi, If you have installed 10.0 only, then download both the 10.1 and the 10.1.1 updates and install them. regards Dean Director Lecturer / Consultant / Director Enthusiast http://www.deansdirectortutorials.com/ http://www.multimediacreative.com.au email: d.utian@unsw.edu.au |
