Default Open a PDF via a button/script in a projector

I am going to burn a projector to a CD with a folder containing some pdf files.
I would like to ask how to open a pdf file(if it's even possible) from a button
in director. I don't need it to open inside the projector, just click on the
button then it will open an Acrobat Reader.

I hope you get the idea of what I'm trying to do.

Thanks

About this;

baOpenFile( the moviepath&"FOLDER/NAME.pdf", "normal" )

what is "themoviepath"? and is there other options other than "normal"? what does it do anyway?

Hi ?ryD:
When you write "the moviepath", you are telling director to use whichever path
the movie is in to find the file. In this example, we are telling Director that
the file is next to the movie (that is why we use "the moviepath") inside a
folder named "FOLDER", and the file's name is "NAME.pdf"

I use "the moviepath", because all my projects run from a CD drive, and you
never know what letter the user has assigned to the particular drive he/she is
running the CD from. If you know where the user will play the movie from, then
you can be path specific (C:\ or D:\).

Regarding "normal" option, I know you can change it to "maximized" or
"minimized" and they will set how the document will open, either "normal",
"maximized" or "minimized" in the user's screen when he/she clicks on the
button.

hope this helps,
Rafael.

Many Thanks for the help.

I got the Buddy API Xtra for Director MX2004. Read the instructions on how to
install it and then added the Xtra to the dir file.

When I publish an Exe there's no problem, but with OSX projector an error
appears "baMac x32 is missing".

If I uncheck the "Include in Projector" the error doesn't appear. I re-checked
the installation instructions, redownloaded the files and all.

Hi ?ryD:
To publish a cross platform project from a PC, leave the xtra with the project
(leave the box checked). You need to add a line to the "xtrainfo.txt" file
located in the following path:

C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Director MX 2004\Configuration\xtrainfo.txt

Open the .txt file and add the following (dont change anything else!). Just
add this at the end of the file:

[#namePPC:"Buddy API Xtra", #nameW32:"budapi.x32"]

This should allow you to create an EXE and a MAC file which you need to unzip
(or uncompress) on a MAC. Do not take this file to any other PC, it will
corrupt the MAC zip file.

Hope this helps.

Rafael.
