Default Custom Tile color problem

Running Director 11 on a Mac running 10.5.4.

I import a .png (drawn in Illustrator), open the Paint window, and use Tile
Settings to try to create a custom tile. The pattern comes through, but the
colors are completely changed - regardless of what colors are used in my image,
the tile is created in various values of cyan.

I have tried creating the cast member entirely within Director, and I get the
same result. I have tried creating the .png on Windows, and I get the same
result. Changing the color palette has no effect.

The oddest thing is I imported a file composed by someone on a Windows
machine...she had created a red tile, and drawn some cast members with it.
While the cast members created by her were the right color, the tile in the
tile picker was cyan, just like the ones I created.

I am new to Director, so I figure I must be missing something quite basic; but
Google has failed me so far. Any suggestions?

Many thanks,
Liz

Tiles and patterns take some of their information from the foreground and
background colors that are currently selected in the toolbox. Reset your
foreground to black and the background to white and see if that makes any
difference to the way that the tiles look.

Thank you for the suggestion, Rob - unfortunately, it made no difference.

I am corresponding with another Mac user who is having the same problem - I am wondering now if we have run into a bug.

The only way that I'm able to replicate the problem, as you describe it, is to change the foreground and background colors. Can you post an example file to look at?

Rob, I really appreciate your offer to take a look! Yet one more basic thing I am missing, though - how do I post a .DIR file here? "Attach Code" seems to want text.

You can't add an attachment to the newsgroup. Do you have a website that you use to upload a zip file? Just zip up the .dir and then upload it. Then give me the address.
