I have heard of the diropener program, but I heard that it was only for older versions of Director.
Any way to extract the movie from a MX 2004 or Director 11 file? And how about from an .exe? |

You're asking us to help you steal someone else's work - possibly even
that of someone here? You might be pushing your luck... Besides which, did you bother to search the forum before posting? |

Hi ytlevine, It is worth saying why you're asking a question. Otherwise people (like Sean) may assume you want to do something not quite kosher. If you're asking - * Can people decompile EXEs or DXRs you create and distribute? Answer - to a very limited degree. I don't think any DIR can be extracted from an EXE. You can get a DXR to be converted to a DIR but it will be stripped of all its code. So, code is 100% secure. * You have created an EXE or DXR and have lost the DIRs. Can you recover you DIRs. Answer - as above - diropener can convert to DIR but only for older versions of Director (not sure what version it supports to). You will never be able to get back your DIR to its complete form. * You have found an interesting EXE or DXR and would like to open it up to see how it was made. Is that possible? Answer - This is the type of question that is inappropriate. As you've seen, this forum is a community resource for people to share information in the spirit of goodwill. Sorry for not being more specific...
I originally made an .dxr on Director 10, upgraded the .dir to Director 11, and my Director 11 went under. I need to at least get the graphics back... I found the solution anyway - to make a new movie, and tell it to load the old movie in debugger mode. Thanks. |

Very important when upgrading files to Director 11 is to keep your earlier version files as a backup. regards Dean Director Lecturer / Consultant / Director Enthusiast http://www.deansdirectortutorials.com/ http://www.multimediacreative.com.au email: d.utian@unsw.edu.au |
