When I allow a back button to be placed on the quiz, it allows you to back up
one slide, but then you can't go forward and answer the quiz. In fact, you
can't go forward at all. Is this the way it is supposed to work? It doesn't
make sense.

You can go back in a quiz but not from question 1. Suggest remove back button
from first question.

The only way to move forward is by using the skip button, however you must
have 'allow backward movement' selected in the quiz properties for the ability
to move forward and back to work.
