Rick,
Presumably? Where can I find a list of updates that this installer 'presumably' installed on my PC? When I go to about adobe captivare 3 it tells me I am running 3.0.1 589. Is this the latest? You must have a release notes page which details the patches/updates made to 3.0 since it s release but I sure can't find it! Also - the installer icon mentioned something about changes to SWF files. Our company, LTX, is waiting for a fix which will allow Captivate to optionally publish full motion video into a single SWF file. We were hoping this might be the patch for that update. Additional help would be greatly appreciated! |

Welcome to our community, Jeffrey
3.0.1 Build 589 is the latest as I understand it. Now I'm unsure if the original patch that mixed things up a bit caused the same number to appear. Are your captions holding the settings? For example, if you have a single word bolded and you edit the caption, does the single word remain bolded or does the entire caption text change to bold or not? That's the telltale symptom of what the first patch caused. Assuming things are hunkey dorey in that area, it's probably safe to assume you have the latest patch. I'm not sure if or where Adobe placed any information about what the patch changes. As I understand it, there were changes made to accommodate the newer Acrobat Connect stuff. Also we now see an option allowing us to override that pesky mandatory "publish to a new folder" that we have all encountered. There is nothing in there that will consolidate all full motion clips into the main movie. Actually, I just struggled with this issue this morning with a Captivate I was creating. Perhaps we will see this become a feature of the next version. Until then, we have to use John Daigle's method for creating single ..SWF output. Cheers... Rick :smile; |

I feel your pain JLTX. I can't even get to download the update and I need to
make a case to my ICT group regarding the reasons why an update might be required (refer to http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforu...id=67&catid=46 4&threadid=1374474&enterthread=y). Is it too much to ask for updates to be available on one page with a full explanation of exactly what it is that the update fixes? |

Hi everyone,
Firstly, on behalf of the product team, I express our sincere apologies for the trouble caused by the first patch. In our enthusiasm to fix as many issues as possible, we introduced an issue in the text captions. To answer questions about the patch: - Build numbers: Update 2 is build 3.0.1 589. Update 1 was build 3.0.1 587. - Update path: There are 2 update paths: 1. Update 2 contains all the fixes done in Update 1. So, if you are in build 3.0.0.580, you would move to 3.0.1 589 when you install Update 2. 2. If you have already installed Update 1, Update 2 would reverse the issues caused due to this patch. - Patch details: The fixes done in the patch are available at this http://www.adobe.com/devnet/captivat...ate_patch.html. - How would you identify Update 1?: Rick is correct in his analysis of the first patch. To quote him, [Q]Are your captions holding the settings? For example, if you have a single word bolded and you edit the caption, does the single word remain bolded or does the entire caption text change to bold or not? That's the telltale symptom of what the first patch caused. Assuming things are hunkey dorey in that area, it's probably safe to assume you have the latest patch.[/Q] - How is the patch downloaded?: Currently, the patch is only available through the Auto Update Manager (AUM). We would be updating thehttp://www.adobe.com/support/captivate/download s.html page with a .msi download of the patch later this week. This would enable you to download the patch and install it if AUM is not permitted in your installation. We would be updating all this information on the Adobe Captivate Downloads page shortly. Once again, sorry for all the issues and confusion. |

Hi tone47b
You need to click Help > Updates... in Captivate to start the updater. As for suggestions, you use the Wish Form for submitting those. http://www.Adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/...form&product=5 Cheers... Rick :smile; |
