Mike,

This again goes back to my original post; is there a way to tell what version
of authorware was used to create the software package? The only information I
could gather was that the latest files on the software CD were from August 1,
2002. Refering to a news article from Adobe, Authorware 6.5 was released in
September 2007, so the Authorware used is probably 6.5 or older. I am not sure
how you can tell whether the xtras used are from the correct version of
Authorware, but I have found a folder named "xtras" in the program directory
with the followig files:

a3read.x32
bmpview.x32
DIRTRANS.x32
FlashAst.x32
GIFIMP.x32
JPEGIMP.x32
MIX32.X32
mixview.x32
MoaFile2.x32
SWADCMPR.x32
SWAREAD.x32
viewsvc.x32
wavread.x32

Hope that information is relevent.

I am still thinking about your previous post about how Authorware might be
just guessing what the problem is when it posts the Memory is Full error. I
will have to think of some other way to test the program if that is the case.

Thanks everyone for all your help.

If you right-click the .exe and select properties, isn't there a version
tab? Maybe only under XP? I think I've checked there before to find the
version...

Mike,

Here are the version numbers of each of the x32 files under xtras folder:

a3sread.x32 - none given
bmpview.x32 - none given
DIRTRANS.x32 - none given
FlashAst.x32 - File version 7.0.2.74, Product Version 5.1,
GIFIMP.x32 - File version 1.1.1.0, Product Version 2.0.0
JPEGIMP.x32 - File version 1.2.0.2, Product Version 4.0.2
MIX32.x32 - File version 1.1.5.1, Product Version 1.15
MoaFile2.x32 - File version 6.0.2.33, Product Version 6.0.2
SWADCMPR.x32 - File version 6.0.0.42, Product Version 6.0 Development
SWAREAD.x32 - File version 1.0.0.0, Product Version 1.0
viewsvc.x32 - none given
mixview.x32 - none given
wavread.x32 - none given

I tried looking through ETS' website for any support info, but it looked like
the product has been discontinued, as the software was not listed in their
product page, and a search of the software title led to two dead links. I first
started researching the issue at Authorware's knowledge base because all the
errors show Authorware in the title bar, so I thought it would be a good place
to start. I just talked to one of the instructors that uses the software, and
she said ETS actually has new version of the software but with a totally new
name, I will see if I can get anymore info from the instructor.

Thanks and regards,

Paul

I can't find any versions of Authorware with that version of FlashAst.x32.
I'm not sure if this is actually the problem here but it is the next thing
I'd look at. If you want me to send a copy of the FlashAst.x32 from
Authorware 6 then you'll need to send your correct email address to
mike-baker at cox net.

Mike
