The particular message that related to memory over 2.0 GB always happened
when you first started up Authorware itself, not a program written in Authorware. The message incorrectly reported "Not enough memory". The "Memory Full" message comes up for a number of different things that are not actually memory full. Sometimes it's Authorware's best guess about what might have happened when it tried to do something and couldn't. Debugging a program with errors that are seeminly random is a process of elimination. You have run it over and over to discover what steps are being taken that cause the problem. In my experience an error that is truly random is more often hardware related. You mentioned that this has started happening only recently. Is there a change to the systems that has happened recently? Amy: this program does not run through web sites, nor does it use browser as
far as I know; it installs to both the server and client workstations, and runs with an .exe file. Mike: thanks for all the information you have given. Is MIME type configuration setup through IIS? I could not find IIS entry in the Administrative Tools. Also, I was able to go through the program sometimes, if MIME type improper configuration is indeed at fault, would that not make it impossible to run the program to completion? I will test the program with the task manager open as you suggested and check for memory leaks. Thanks. |

You can get random memory-related crashes (and other oddness) if you somehow mix Xtras versions from different versions of Authorware. You're right. The MIME type setting would only matter if it's being
delivered by web publish, not exe and it would be, as you suspect, a consistent failure. Are there any 3rd party tools or DLLs that are being used? Did the program evolve over multiple versions of Authorware? (make sure the xtras being used are all from the correct version of Authorware). Mike |

If you right-click the .exe and select properties, isn't there a version
tab? Maybe only under XP? I think I've checked there before to find the version... -- Erik Lord http://www.capemedia.net Adobe Community Expert - eLearning http://www.adobe.com/communities/experts/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ http://www.awaretips.net - Authorware Tips! |

Is ETS unable to help you with this?
I have all the versions of Authorware here. You can get the version info from each of the x32 but renaming them to dll and then right-click to get the properties. You change a3sread.x32 to a3sread.dll and then right-click. Send the date and version of each file and I can see if it matches up with mine.
